Whitsun is a Christian and an official holiday. In the Christian faith they celebrate the emergence of the Holy Spirit 49 days after Easter Sunday.
Whether religious or not, coming Sunday and Monday you have again the possibility to explore the Heidelberg City with your family or/and friends.
For this purpose there will be 4 guided city walks which will take place on Whit – Sunday (27.05.12):
So, how about the “Geführten Altstadtrundgang“ (Guided City Walk) at 10:30 a.m.? The guidance will be in German language and will endure 1,5 hours. You can get the tickets on the spot. Meeting point is the main entrance of the Heidelberg City Hall:
The guided city walk “Stadtrundfahrt mit Schlossbesuch“ (Guided City Walk with Castle visit) will take place a little bit later than the first guidance. It begins at 1:30 p.m. and lasts 2 hours. The conduction will be in German and English. You can buy the tickets again on the spot. Meeting point is the Karlsplatz at the information board:
Anyone who is interested in baroque literature has the chance to join in to the guided city walk “Heidelberg im Barock”. It will start at 2:30 p.m. and will last 2 hours. Meeting point is the Löwenbrunnen at the Universitätsplatz.
As a last point for this nice day there will be the “Abendlichen Rundgang durch die historische Altstadt” (Tour Of The Historical Old City In The Evening). The guidance will start at 6:30 p.m. and last 1 hour. The language of the tour will be German. Tickets can be bought on the spot. Meeting point is the main entrance of the City Hall:
On the following day, this will be the Whit-Monday (26.05.12), another two city tours will be taking place.
For those who will not manage to take part in the “Geführte Altstadtrundgang“ on Sunday they will have the chance to do so on Monday at 10:30 a.m. The guidance will be in German and will last 1,5 hours. Meeting place is, like on Sunday, the main entrance of the City Hall. Tickets can be bought on the spot:
For all who are interested in literature there will be the “Literat(o)ur“ at 11:00 a.m. Meeting point is the yard of the Kurpfälzisches Museums:
For the evening’s entertainment the Heidelberg City offers you a cello concert played by the Heidelberger Kammermusikfestival.
The Heidelberger Kammermusikfestival is organized by the State Academy of Music and Performing Arts of Mannheim. The festival takes place only two times a year. So, don’t miss the chance to visit it.
