Goethe at the Palais Boisserée

The following poem came into existence when W. Goethe dwelt at the Palais Boisserée of the Boisserée brothers between 1814 and 1815.  The famous poet spent here a number of weeks. A memorial plaque is witnessing his visit which strengthened the reputation of the building Palais Boisserée .

„Ros’ und Lilie morgenthaulich
Blüht im Garten meiner Nähe;
Hintenan, bebuscht und traulich,
Steigt der Felsen in die Höhe;
Und mit hohem Wald umzogen,
Und mit Ritterschloß gekrönet,
Lenkt sich hin des Gipfels Bogen,
Bis er sich dem Thal versöhnet«.
